An MOT involves many checks on your vehicle, ranging from brakes to the fuel system, the light and mirrors, as well as seatbelts and windscreen wipers. It doesn't however, cover the clutch and gearbox, but we can always check this as part of our full service.
Your MOT will take anywhere between 45 to 60 minutes to complete.
Below is our guide to the class of MOT available.
Class 1
This is for mopeds and motorcycles, with or without a side car, with an engine size up to 200cc.
Class 2
This is for motorcycles, with or without side cars, with an engine size over 200cc.
Class 3
This is for three-wheeled vehicles, such as Reliants, that are up to 450kg, unladen weight.
Class 4
The standard MOT for most cars or motor vehicles that have up to 8 passenger seats. This also includes taxis, ambulances, motorhomes, campervans, most vans and smaller commercial vehicles up to 3,000KG.
Class 4a
This is for Class 4 vehicles, 9-12 passengers, that also includes a seat belt installation check.
Class 5
This is for private passenger vehicles, coaches and ambulances, 13-16 passenger seats, and with more than 16 passenger seats, as well as play buses.
Class 5a
This is for Class 5 vehicles, 13-16 passenger seats, and with more than 16 passenger seats, that also includes a seatbelt installation check.
Class 7
This is for goods vehicles, over 3,000kg up to 3,500kg gross weight, including larger Transit vans, lorries and trucks.
